Global earthworm distribution and activity windows based on soil hydromechanical constraints

چکیده
Abstract Earthworm activity modifies soil structure and promotes important hydrological ecosystem functions for agricultural systems. Earthworms use their flexible hydroskeleton to burrow expand biopores. Hence, is constrained by hydromechanical conditions that permit deformation at earthworm’s maximal hydroskeletal pressure (?200kPa). A mechanistic biophysical model developed here link the biomechanical limits of earthworm burrowing with moisture texture predict bioturbation across biomes. We include additional constraints exclude such as freezing temperatures, low pH, high sand content develop first predictive global map habitats in good agreement observed occurrence patterns. strongly seasonal dynamics vary latitudes largely due status. The delineates potential migration via connectivity hospitable sites highlights regions sensitive climate.

Influence of mulch and soil compaction on earthworm cast properties
The effects of different mulch materials applied to compacted and uncompacted soil on the quantity and the quality of deposited earthworm casts were investigated. Biochemical properties and water stability of soil aggregates were compared with the corresponding properties of worm casts. This short-time experiment was conducted in the laboratory, simulating field conditions of mulch management i...
متن کاملGeneralizing Global Constraints Based on Network Flows
Global constraints are used in constraint programming to help users specify patterns that occur frequently in the real world. In addition, global constraints facilitate the use of efficient constraint propagation algorithms for problem solving. Many of the most common global constraints used in constraint programming use filtering algorithms based on network flow theory. We show how we can form...
متن کاملGeneric Global Constraints based on MDDs
Constraint Programming (CP)[1] has been successfully applied to both constraint satisfaction and constraint optimization problems. A wide variety of specialized global constraints provide critical assistance in achieving a good model that can take advantage of the structure of the problem in the search for a solution. However, a key outstanding issue is the representation of ’ad-hoc’ constraint...
